Having a Loving Husband and a Wonderful Father
Every mother needs a great support system throughout her motherhood. As a first-time mother, I am so lucky to have a loving husband who takes care of my needs during my postpartum recovery and also a wonderful father who does more than he expected in sharing the responsibilities of taking care of our baby that we are not prepared for. It gives me great joy working as a team with my husband and what’s more, it makes me love him even more.
We treasure each and every moment with our baby, including the diaper blowouts in the middle of the night. Both of us would laugh at the chaos, although we were both tired of changing the diaper, bedsheet and laundry. It is never “this is your job” but we work as a team, supporting each other and getting things done. We let each other have a little me-time so we are recharged and motivated for our duties and responsibilities. We are constantly learning how to do a better job taking care of our baby.
During postpartum, my husband ensures foods are ready on the table for every meal and after meals, he washes all the dishes. He does all ours and baby’s laundry. He bathes our baby everyday. He changes diapers and help feed our baby whenever I was too tired. He cut our baby’s finger and toenails. He helps baby on his tummy time and massages baby to pass gas. He also brings our baby for his evening walk a few times a week so that our baby gets some Vitamin D. There are a lot more and I really appreciate everything he has done. Thank you, my husband.
